The UTPA men's and women's track and field program wrapped up the Houston Indoor Invitational yesterday at the Yeoman Fieldhouse in Houston, Texas.
In the men's one mile run, Andrew Lopez was the Broncs top performer with a 15th place finish with a time of 4:27.03. Gilroy Martinez clocked in a time of 4:43.90 for a 24th place finish.
Omar Doria placed 15th in the 3,000-meter run as he registered a time of 8:51.46. Frank Garcia posted a time of 9:25.27 for a 32nd place finish. On the second day of field events, Jesus Alvarez was the only Bronc to record a distance with a 14.06 meter toss in the shot put.
On the women's side, Diana Galloso clocked a time of 5:25.59 in the one-mile run for a 21st place finish. Judith Chumba crossed the finish line right behind Galloso with a time of 5:26.51. Chumba also clocked a time of 10:49.16 in the 3,000-meter run.
In the 5,000-meter run, Michelle Zamora posted an eighth place finish with a time of 21:13.94.
Next up for the men and women's team is the UH All-Comers meet on Feb. 6 hosted by the University of Houston. The meet will be a one day event.
