The University of Texas-Pan American men and women's track and field program will be splitting ways with the sprinters competing at the Texas Southern Relays and the long distance and field events competing at the Texas Invitational this Friday (Mar. 21) and Saturday (Mar. 22).
With a week off of competition, the men and women's teams are looking for a great showing in both meets.
"They needed the rest. They've been working hard in practice and a couple of days off should get their mindset ready for these meets," said head men and women's track and field coach Dennis Darling. "I think both teams will do well."
In the field events, thrower Stephanie Perez is one to look out for this weekend.
"Stephanie is doing really great and I'm very happy with her. She qualified for regionals early in the season so now she just needs to focus on making it out of regionals," added Darling.
The Texas Southern Relays will be an all day event as will the Texas Invitational. The Texas Invitational will begin its field events at 11:00 a.m. with running events beginning at 1:30 p.m.
