Men and women's track and field head coach Dave Hartman announced the addition of Cindy Velasquez to the Lady Broncs track and field program for the 2009-10 academic campaign.
Velasquez joins the UTPA women's track and field program from Laredo United High School where she was one of the top female track athletes to hail from Laredo United. She currently holds the record in her leg of the 4x100-meter relay (50.21) and is the school's second fastest 100-meter hurdler with a time of 14.97.
During her prep career at Laredo United, Velasquez participated in six events, while leading her team to three District 29-5A championships - all back-to-back.
"Cindy is an extremely talented athlete out of Laredo, Texas. She has the potential to contribute at the conference level as a freshman and we look forward to what she can bring to the track and field program," said head coach Dave Hartman.
Cindy Velasquez joins Cinthia Adame and Kelly Eddington for the 2009-10 academic campaign.
