At this year's 28th-annual Edinburg 10K Run/Walk (Feb. 6), the UTPA women's volleyball team took part as they participated in the 2-Mile Fun Run and handed out water to runners as they raced towards the finish line in the 10K run.
This year's race marks the second consecutive year that the UTPA women's volleyball team provides a helping hand at the race.
"This is an event we enjoy doing. So many people from all over the world come out to participate. This gives us a chance to get out in the community and lend a helping hand, along with supporting a healthy lifestyle," said head volleyball coach Angela Hubbard.
The 2-Mile Fun Run included participants of all age and started off at Cano Gonzalez Elementary, which is on Freddy Gonzalez Drive, and ended at the Edinburg Municipal Park.
"The 2 mile run is a fun event, especially with the one and five year-olds racing each other. It's a nice, fun family day," added Hubbard.
After taking part in the fun run, the Lady Broncs assisted in the 10K with handing out water at the finish line, clipping the chips (timing device system) off of the participant's shoes, and cheering on fellow community members.
