JERSEY CITY, NJ--The University of Texas-Pan American volleyball program swept the Saint Peter's College Peahens 3-0, Thursday night (Oct. 29) at Yanitelli Center Court, in Jersey City, NJ.
UTPA lead off the match with a win in the first set 25-21, in a game that saw 11 kills on 40 attempts for the Lady Broncs. In the second set, a total of 15 lead changes took place before a kill by Noelle Mayor sealed the 27-25 win for the Lady Broncs. In the final set of the night, UTPA emerged with a 25-23 victory to sweep the match.
"I was proud of the team tonight," said head women's volleyball coach Angela Hubbard. "We came in with a game plan and we executed well."
Rita Gonzalez recorded a match-high 31 assists and added 12 digs. Kaitlin Vasquez led the team in kills with 11 and had 12 digs, while Rebbeca Toddy led the team in digs with 28.
With the victory, the Lady Broncs improve to 6-15. UTPA will end their road trip on Saturday (Oct. 31) as they head to Newark, NJ to face Great West Conference foe NJIT.
