The University of Texas-Pan American women's volleyball team dropped a three-set decision on the road to Texas State in San Marcos, TX, on Tuesday evening.
The Lady Broncs dropped their overall record to 11-17 on the 2007 campaign while the Lady Bobcats captured their fifth straight victory en route to securing a 17-10 record.
Kellie Phillips (Chandler, AZ/Corona del Sol H.S.) and Marci Logan (Centennial, CO/Arapahoe H.S.) collected 10 kills apiece while Chelsea Blakely (Houston, TX/J. Frank Dobie H.S.) dished out a match-high 27 assists in the UTPA setback.
Sophomore Rebecca Toddy (McAllen, TX/McAllen Memorial H.S.) added a team-high 13 digs for the Lady Broncs.
Amy Weigle collected 10 kills including six blocks while Lawrencia Brown finished with nine kills and 13 digs for the Lady Bobcats. Shelbi Irvin dished out a team-high 20 assists, and Kacey Wimpy recorded a match-high 17 digs.
Texas State held advantages over the Lady Broncs in kills (47-32), hitting percentage (.312-.022), assists (43-30), service aces (7-3), digs (61-41), and total blocks (14.0-4.0).
The Lady Broncs will be back in action on Friday (Nov. 9) in Prairie View, TX, when the Valley's program squares-off against Prairie View A&M at 6:30 p.m.
