Marcelo Schmidt Position: Faculty Athletic Representative Alma Mater: Undergraduate - UTPA (1996) Master's Degree - UTPA (1998)

Marcelo Schmidt begins his first year as Faculty Athletic Representative at The University of Texas-Pan American.

Originally from Argentina, Schmidt has been a native of the Rio Grande Valley for the past 17 years and received his bachelor's degree from UTPA in 1996 in kinesiology. He followed up his graduation with a two-year stint as a teacher's assistant before receiving his master's degree in education in 1998. Schmidt has been a full-time instructor in the kinesiology department for the past seven years.

Schmidt replaces Tony de la Pena, who retired at the end of the 2005 fall semester, as UTPA's Faculty Athletic Representative.
